A few years ago, I used to think that anyone I'd talk to and occasionally go out with, would be someone I consider as a "friend". Because in my mind, I would always be there to lend an ear or whatever else they'd need and I expected the same back.

After my recent experience, my perception of who I'd count as a friend had changed.... I now only consider close friends as "friends" (i.e. those who had been there for me through the experience) and as for everyone else, I just see them as people I know. Is this a negative mindset?

How would you consider someone as a "friend" to you?
